1. Why are we moving to a new phone system(Microsoft Teams)?
Microsoft is retiring Skype for Business.
2. How do I change my ringtone?
To change the default ringtone, head to your profile (top right corner of the home page), Settings -> Calling -> Ringtones then select the arrow to expand drop-down menu. You can preview a list of ringtones before you select it.
Note: These are the only ringtones we have available as it is a Microsoft system, so until Microsoft releases more ringtones for Teams, we are stuck with the limited variety of ringtones you can find in this ringtones tab.
3. How can I remove personal contacts from my Teams phone?
It is best to arrange a time to work it through with a member of Technical Services. You can send your request to support@sydgram.nsw.edu.au and we will arrange one of the staff to help you to move your personal contacts from your school account to your personal account.
Note: Alternatively, setting up a PIN can guarantee you the same level of privacy as your own personal mobile phone. This would allow you to keep your contacts on your Teams phone and your data is protected by your pin. The details for setting up a pin are in another FAQ below.
4. How do I make a call to someone within the school?
All staff members are entered into the Microsoft Teams system, you can head to the Calls tab, then in the top right-hand corner, click the magnifying glass (the search button) and either type the staff member's name or staff initials. This will either immediately start the call with them or there will be a little call button displayed under their name when you click on their details.
Note: Most staff members’ extensions are still the same so you can also try calling their 3-digit extension number.
5. How do I set up a PIN for my phone?
- Tap on your profile picture.
- Tap Settings
- Scroll down to devise settings.
- Select Phone lock.
- Type in a 6-digit pin number and then retype to confirm.
- Select the idle timeout and set it to 1 minute or 5 minutes.
- tap the tick button on the top right-hand side to confirm.
6. How do I set up my voicemail
From the home page, click on your profile picture. Go to Settings -> Calling -> Voicemail (Change voicemail greetings) (a blue option). This will start an automated call. If you follow the instructions of the call, you will be able to record your own personal voicemail.
7. How do I stop the flashing red light on the top of the phone?
It indicates that you have a missed call or a voicemail waiting for you.
Entering the calls and voicemail tabs and checking for missed calls or awaiting voicemails respectively will momentarily stop the red flashing light when you return to the home page.
8. How do I set up favourites (Speed Dial) on the Teams phone?
On the Teams Phone, in the Recent Calls, Find the person you want to add, and then select the entry for that person to open the people card. In the top-right corner, there's a star. Tap that star to add the person to your list of favourites. Once the star is filled yellow, the person is now a favourite.
If you have Microsoft teams on your Surface device, you can also add Speed Dial via Calls ->Move your mouse on top of Speed Dial -> Click the three dots next to the Speed Dial -> Add a contact from this group -> Search the person > Click Add.
